7 Fl. Oz. Bottle of Blended Rit DyeMore Synthetic Fiber Dye – Color = DRIFTWOOD
Product Description
Rit DyeMore is a synthetic dye that colors 100% polyester, acrylic, acetate, nylon and polyester/cotton blends. To determine how much dye is needed, place the dry fabric in the dry dye pot. Note how high the fabric loosely sits in the dye pot. Remove the dry material and measure how many gallons of water is necessary to pour into the dry dye pot to reach the level that the dry material reached in the dry dye pot. It is imperative that the fabric must be totally submerged in the dye water the entire time while being stirred and soaked. Pre-wash item in warm, soapy water to remove any finishes that may interfere with dye absorption. Always use the Stove Top method of dyeing to ensure a high, steady temperature (about 180F or just below boiling), which is needed to dye synthetics. Cover pot and heat water to almost boiling. When water begins to simmer, add dye. You may add one teaspoon of dish washing liquid if you choose to. You do not have to use salt or vinegar when using Rit DyeMore. Stir well and immerse wet item in dye bath. Stir slowly and continuously for at least 30 minutes (the first 10 minutes are the most critical). Stirring helps to ensure an even color with no splotches. Use tongs to help lift and move around the fabric. Keep temperature at a low simmer for up to one hour. When dyeing polyester, keeping the fabric in the dye bath for at least 30 minutes is essential for ensuring that the color takes fully and does not wash out when rinsed, even if the fabric appears to have reached the desired color in less time. Other materials like nylon can be removed from the dye bath when they’ve achieved the desired color. Rinse well in cool running water and hang to dry.
