2. Livestock
Bottom dwelling fish are ideal candidates when adding to a sand substrate aquarium. They will swim and root around in the sand disturbing the top layers.
3. Manual removal
When you get a buildup of dirt and mulm in an aquarium, such as that caused in dead spots; the only way to remove it is manually.

Pegging is a great way to place coral frags in your reef and be able to later create space between them by quickly relocating pieces to different holes. Affix corals to frag plugs with glue, putty, toothpicks or rubberbands, depending on the species and its characteristics.
When aquascaping a new tank, pre-drilling 1/4″ holes in the the rockwork will provide places to put pegged corals as desired. Drill shelf rock or bigger rocks as you rockscape — it’ll be very handy later when you add more and more frags.

How lift actually works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFO4PBolwFg
More with Canadian Olympian Hunter Lowden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YVOPUkbu6g
How does a sailboat work? The standard idea is that the wind pushes the sails from behind, causing the boat to move forward. Although this technique is used at times, it is not the most efficient way to sail a boat (and it means the boat can never go faster than the wind). Lift is the key mechanism driving a boat forwards. As air flows over the sails, it moves faster over the outer side, creating lower pressure than on the inner side. This produces a force which is mostly to the side and a bit forwards. Lift on the centerboard pushes to the opposite side, cancelling the sideways force and adding a forward component of force to the boat.
