Aquarium Driftwood DIY Search, Ideas, & Making

https://amzn.to/2GwQAbW – Finding aquarium driftwood diy ideas and making cool designs. Searching for wood for your fish tanks is actually pretty easy. You can find it yourself or else you can just buy it online. They do have some descent fake ones. Here is a link:

Mangrove Wood Decor: https://amzn.to/2GwQAbW

Here it is Freshwater Aquarium friends. My first big tank (120 gallons). I have had many aquariums before in the past, but nothing this big before. I would like some advice on filtration. I know I will have to go with canister filters, but don’t if I need one or two. I plan on a Cichlid tank. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could do 1 and on opposite side of the return do a wavemaker. I like current. Keeps stuff from gathering on the bottom. I’ve had my 125 for 2 years and do not have a canister on it I do under gravel and 4 filters that hang on back without any problems. Canisters are fine the fx6 is awesome but the 3 aquaclear 110s will put out more filtration with more options for less money.

They aren’t silent but aren’t loud imo…But also being from fluval they are reliable and easy to upkeep and maintain. I’ve been running mine for 10 years with absolutely no issues. Also as stated with the options you can configure the filter baskets to your liking…or grow small plants in exc.

Can buy 3 aqueon 400 canister 200$ each and are alot quieter , create more surface agitation then hobs and hold 3 times as much media for benifical bacteria to colonize , they also give you a 3′ spray bar nozzle to increase agitation even more or the option of running it through the canister and then through two hobs to polish , all in one box , the 400 is rated for 155g , i run two on my 7′ 120 g long , for 200$ can’t go wrong.

I’d take the wasted money your gonna spend on a fx6 and buy 5 sunsuns. Put 2 on and have 3 backups. Fx6 is a highly overrated filter. Dont waste your money. Please do not put multiple canisters it is a huge pita I know from experience. As long as you have a canister that has 5x+ filtration so 600+gph. You are perfectly fine. If you want a little extra filtration add a hob add an aquaclear 110. It never ceases to amaze me how people enjoy doing more work than is necessary.

You can see the tail fin of the other one has it too. It’s ich, raise temp to 86 degrees and ask your fish store for something to help with ich. They should have a bottle of something, there’s a few different ones.

Yep. U need ick meds fast. Raising temp will help just make sure the tank is well oxygenated when u do so. Clown loaches are scaleless so u will need to half dose the medication. I would leave the tank temp as is and do one round of ick treatment using an ick medication from the store. I like QuICK cure. I’ve never had luck treating ich with high temps and it only seemed to stress out my fish. I had better luck just using ick medicine. Also be careful when using salt if you have other fish. Do research beforehand as some fish cannot handle any salt or do badly with it. For example, cories. Last I checked, clown loach were scaleless and therefore would be sensitive to salt. Not sure on that though since I don’t keep loaches.

Turning up the tank temp for ick treatment was popular and still is but imo, there isn’t as much need to do that as there are ick treatments that work and do better to treat ick then just turning up temps. Also, some fish just dislike higher temperatures or have a harder time handling it so then you put more stress on the fish by increasing temp while it still is sick so do research on what other fish you have in there and whether they would be ok with warmer water.

Yes definitely ich! That loach needs help. How many fish are in there? Can you get them into a hospital tank? Increase temp will help speed up ich life cycle, without new host (fish) to infect the ich should vanish in meantime treat with methyl blue in hospital tank.

Ich meds are very hard on loaches. Your best bet is to raise temp to 84-86~ and increase surface agitation. Hot water holds less oxygen and hot water increases fishes metabolism which means they need exponentially more oxygen exchange than normal. So lots of surface agitation. Do a thorough gravel vac to remove as much of the ich from substrate as possible.

If treating with ich meds do half doses because of the fact that fish without scales will die otherwise. Yes ich you just have to be careful because 99 percent of ich meds are dangerous to scaleless fish. It doesn’t matter which one you choose all of them are bad. Do NOT use copper. You can use malachite green with caution (some are safer than others), metrodiazonale with caution, methelyne blue with caution (although not recommended in main tank as it can crash your cycle so that’s pretty much out the window) salt with caution. There are some herbal treatments with extremely mixed reviews.. I’ve never tried any so I’m not help there.

Tips On How To Improve Your Home

DIYers listen up! You need to learn all you can before you tackle any project. This article includes some smart ideas for people who enjoy repairing their home themselves.

It’s important to do renovations which add value to your house. By nature, a design feature that is personal to you is less likely to feel personal for someone else, and therefore, it may deter interested parties from buying your home.

If you can afford it, real wood floors are a better choice than laminate. Real wood can be refinished, but laminate cannot. Having real wood floors means that in a decade or two, you or the new home owner will have the option of refinishing instead of replacing the floor.

It is possible to expand storage capacity by using old shoe boxes. You can use fabric and wallpaper remnants to decorate the boxes. You can increase your storage space in an attractive way by doing so.

If you want to redo your floor in an inexpensive way, think about vinyl. Vinyl is very durable and strong. It is resistant to water and easy to put in. Vinyl flooring could be purchased as a set or even as one single sheet if you want to cover bigger areas at once.

There are many options available when it comes to updating your kitchen appliances. You many want a new refrigerator that is stainless steel even though your refrigerator works perfectly; however, this is not a good investment. You can buy spray paint for your appliances in any color that you like. This can update the look of your kitchen within a day.

Taking the tips and advice you have learned here, you will be able to work more efficiently at creating the home you’ve always dreamed of. Even difficult improvements can be easier. Your house will look better, be more livable or whatever your heart desires.

makin' wall art outta driftwood

April 22, 2019 by admin

I had a piece of driftwood with some interesting curves and characteristics. I thought I’d cut it up into a few slices to see if I could make a piece of wall art out of it. My goal was to “collaborate” with wood when designing the piece of art by keeping the shapes of the wood slices as natural as I could. This way, the design of the art piece isn’t only my idea but the wood plays a big part in helping me come up with the design.

The Basics When It Comes To Improving Your House

Thinking about tackling a new home improvement project? Luckily there are tips to help you with that in this article.

When you are getting ready to do a big project, hire someone to help you plan it out. Plans created on your own or through friends may be pretty, but not functional with your current home. Someone who professionally designs will do it the right way and you will avoid any disaster.

Demand a formal contract that is signed by both you and your contractor before any work is started. You may also want to have the contract looked at by a lawyer. Start and end dates, work to be done and warranty information must be stated in the contract.

While painting, remember to protect the floors. This helps keep wet paint off of your flooring. When painting, use newspapers on your floor to reduce staining. A paint cloth works well too, as you simply need to create a barrier to prevent the paint from hitting the floor.

If you want to replace locks, you can replace the entire knob or just the cylinder. The locking action is performed by the cylinder. This is also the part that is replaced for security reasons, such as when you lose a key. If you want to install an upgrade, then revamp the entire unit.

If you are working on your home yourself, make sure to purchase high quality tools and supplies. This investment will pay dividends in the long run and is well worth the expenditure. As a general rule, better quality products have longer lifespans and can take more punishment before they break. Therefore, you should purchase quality tools that will last for a long time.

Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, a home improvement project can sometimes feel like a big burden. The tips in this article will give you some idea on what you need to do, and it will also make your house look wonderful.
