In this video, I’ll be discussing basics of collecting and preparing driftwood and rocks for the home aquarium.

During filming I received a semi-important text and kinda lost my train of thought. A couple of things I left out that you should look out for when collecting rocks-

1) Crystals/Geodes- Crystals are high in mineral concentrations. I’m no geologist, so I don’t know the specifics of what they can leach, but it’s good to stay away from them.
2) Orange/Red spots/drips/streaks- This is rust. It indicates that the rock contains some kind of metal deposit. Stay away from it, as some metals can be toxic and all metals are harmful in significant quantities.
