Tray with DIY Driftwood Look

May 20, 2018 by admin

This video is about DIY Vintage Pine Tray

This video is about creating the vintage wood look on this brand new pine tray. We used Weatherwash Aging Wash: PINED. The tray is built from brand new pine! Collaboration with Homeroad Blog.

1. Sand wood. Only raw wood will work.
2. Apply Aging Wash and Watch the magic happen! Do not wipe off. Just allow for it to dry naturally. This is the natural way to age wood, after all!
3. Wood can be darkened or lightened with our Maintenance Oils.
4. To hold that look with a little bit of sheen, use Satin Varnish. It’s a great sealer for furniture and looks good, too!
Tip: Only Weatherwash topcoats can hold the look of our aged wood!

Beach Inspired Succulent Driftwood Planter πŸ– || West Coast Gardens

May 20, 2018 by admin

(westcoastgardens.ca)
Create a beach house vibe with a succulent driftwood planter, easy to care for and a highlight of any space. Rain or shine, this coastal design will make you feel like you’re watching the waves. 🌊

We started with a driftwood planter that was pre-made with a space for soil, and filled it up. You can also hollow out your own found driftwood if you’re feeling ambitious! Fill it up to the top, so that your succulents are sitting above the wood line, to create a super full looking planter.

We’ve alternated round and spiky shapes, as well as light and dark colours, to add interest. The plants are spaced out to leave room for natural small stones that really highlight the beach feeling. A perfect west coast planter.

You’ll see that I used in air plants in 2 of the designs because they combine really well with succulents. These easy DIY arrangements would be great to give as gifts – coming straight from nature & made with heart.

I live very close to the beach & love to collect whatever I can find to use in my garden or for crafting. I’ve gathered a variety of shells which I use as an interesting ground cover. Larger pieces of driftwood are garden art in my back yard – I love how they look with succulents & rock. The smaller pieces get used for crafting and that’s what you see here. Plus, they’re so much easier to drag home than the gargantuan pieces!

For these 3 succulent, driftwood & air plant pieces I used Spanish & sheet mosses . You can see how I attach succulents to driftwood so that they grow in this post & video. These simple arrangements are great projects to do with kids but just be sure you use cool met glue or E6000 Quick Dry instead of hot glue. We don’t want any little burned fingers!
