Welcome to Aquascape TV.
This time we will share to you, our Driftwood Aquarium Design. In this video, we will guide you about step by step to make this beautiful planted tank layout.
First, make a hardscape of rocks, wood or other decoration material of your taste. A nice hardscape creates room and perspective for both fish and plants.
Then add about 1 centimeter of substrate below the gravel to give long term nutrient storage for the growth of plants. The gravel is distributed with the slope upwards towards the rear wall of the aquarium. This way, you can achieve depth and perspective.
The easiest way to plant in the aquarium is at a water level just a few centimeters from the bottom.
Twelve different plants live in this aquarium, growing under the water surface, on tree roots and stones. The large hardscape in the middle, consisting of driftwood and mini landscape, is a vital part of the aquarium layout. On the journey through the aquarium, you will continue to discover new things, e. g. small prawns, peeking out here and there from plant thickets or the hardscape. Since most of the plants also grow quickly, this will add constant change to the aquascape, which will never seem boring to the viewer.
