Our fine coffees are farm-to-cup: we use this phrase to describe coffee’s journey to your cup: farmed, source processed, roasted, and brewed. We only use small lots, coffees grown on small lots support family-owned farms and have lower yields making the supply of high quality growers limited and valuable. The best coffees in the world are grown on small farms at high altitudes. Small batch roasters are like gourmet chefs selecting and bringing out the unique flavors in their ingredients (in this case coffee beans). Roasting coffee is an art & science with many variables: temperature, timing, water content, mixture, and quantity. All of these nuances are better controlled in smaller batches. Coffee can sit on grocery store shelves for up to 36 weeks. That’s why most coffee bags have expiration dates instead of ‘Roasted-On’ dates. Freshness matters to taste and flavor in a big way. That’s why emphasizing freshness is so important as a differentiator – we roast to order.
