One piece of driftwood. SubstrateSource Driftwood is an all-natural product. Each piece is unique! This is “Malaysian” type driftwood, known for its rich color and bold appearance. Submerged driftwood will release tannins (tannic acid) that can alter your aquarium water in a few important ways: color, pH, and hardness. The release of tannins will tint your water–sometimes desirable in Betta tanks or “blackwater” biotope aquariums. The release of tannins decreases over time and with routine water changes, the clarity of your aquarium water will increase. Tannic acid has antibacterial properties and can also bring down an aquarium’s pH and hardness, depending on the buffering capacity of the water. Every piece is different and range in length of about 5-8 inches. Use the driftwood as a stand-alone accent piece or as an attachment point for Anubias, Java Fern, Mosses, or other live aquatic plants. SubstrateSource driftwood is also great for amphibian and reptile habitats.
